Photographs relating to the career of Captain Alexander Mitford Edwin in the Mediterranean and East Africa during World War I and as a shipmaster for the Union Steam Ship Co. During the war Captain Edwin commanded the Wahine, the hospital ship Marama, and the Willochra. He brought the reconditioned Wahine back from England in 1919, and for 13 months before he retired in March 1922 he commanded the Tahiti in the San Fransisco service
