- Description
Shows a view of the Canterbury Plains looking north towards the Kaikoura Ranges, with the Heathcote River winding towards its outlet in the Avon-Heathcote Estuary and Pegasus Bay. In the left foreground a pencilled figure watches a pot suspended over a campfire. This ink drawing may be a copy from William Fox's original, or from the etching by T Allom published in "Four Illustrative Views of the Canterbury Settlement" (London, 1851. Art f919.31 / FOU).
