Description: Edith Lyttleton, her sister, brother, and friends on a winter holiday at Engelberg, Switzerland. A series of photographs show the party lined up ready for an excursion on skis. Fooling around on toboggans. Having fun in the town. Riding motor driven toboggans. According to a loose print (see PAColl-9129-49) and Terry Sturm, the Lyttletons visited Engleberg in 1911. Hedges, lawns and hebaceous boarders. The house, a one storied bungalow surrounded on three sides by a veranda hung with vines. Garden furniture in the form of a park bench and outdoor table. Some images show people in the garden. Other photographs show unidentified views of New Zealand countryside. Boys eating at the entrance to a tent. People on a beach. Wanganui and Wanganui river bridge. Unidentified wharves and ships. Scene on the Avon in Christchurch. South African War memorial and Masonic Hotel, Napier. Two people on the Illecillewaet Glacier, USA, on the 5th of June 1909. Edith Lyttleton's family lived at Rokeby from 1880 to 1908 when what remained of the station freehold was sold.
