Katherine Mansfield's only brother, known as `Chummie'. Completed an Officers' Training Course and was commissioned as a lieutenant in the South Lancashire Regiment - `The Prince of Wales's Volunteers'. Stayed with Katherine in the third week of August 1915, while on a bombing instructors course at Clapham Common. Killed in France, October 1915 in a hand-grenade accident at Ploegsteert Wood, near Armentieres. The descriptive listing of the lot on pages 105-110 together with the reproduction of photographic portraits on the cover and page 104 & 106, provides details of the contents of the lot together with extensive transcriptions of excerpts from the papers. Photographs reproduced as illustrations include a portrait of Mansfield's brother Leslie, and one of Katherine and Leslie together.
