Description

Autobiography, includes details of Thompson's early life growing up in rural New Zealand in the Waikato and Northland Regions. At 16 years Thompson became a cadet for the Department of Agriculture and remained in the Public Sector for the next 44 years, taking retirement at age 60. Served in the Air Force in World War Two, based in Melbourne, Australia in an administrative position with the manufacturing of munitions for the war effort. After the war Thompson returned to New Zealand working as a chemist in the Government sector, rising to the position of Superintentent of Agricultural Chemicals. A keen tramper and climber Thompson was also involved with the Lions Club and Civil Defence Organisation in retirement.
