Description: Album of photographs taken between the 1860s and 1890s by various unidentified photographers, with one identified as being possibly by Daniel Louis Mundy, and one by James Bragge. Two early photographs, one of `Oakbourne Station', the home of John Davis Canning was taken circa 1860s, and one of `Orua Wharo' the home of John Johnston, and later his son Sydney Johnston, was taken circa 1870s, before the new house was built in 1879. Page 7 contains pressed ferns. Non-New Zealand photographs include several of Fiji, including Levuka, Taveuni, and an avenue of palms; one of the carving on Sir Joshua Reynold's bed at Tarrington; one of an Elizabethan glass cup; a carved overmantel; two views of Arundel House at Brighton, and one of Heston Church near Osterley Park. In the North Island, apart from the views of Oakbourne and Orua Wharo in the Hawke's Bay region, there are several views of the Pink and White Terraces, two showing the White Terraces both empty and full, Clay Island beneath the White Terraces; two views of the Manawatu Gorge and Seventy Mile Bush; and a view of Wellington City. South Island views include Milford Sound, Stewart Island, Braida Crags, the Wyndham River; a large group of people at celebrations surrounding the laying of the foundation stone for St John's Church in Invercargill; and two views of an exhibition of a Japanese village displaying such things as banners, lanterns and furniture, held in a hall in Invercargill.
