Description

Holograph letter to Rev Samuel Marsden, written as an introduction and including extracts from his diary. Diary extracts include descriptions of the activities of the newly settled Wesleyan missionaries, printing, beginning of Papahurihia, and visits, including to the Bay of Islands.

Hawke, a New South Wales pioneer, was stranded in the Hokianga en route for England.
