Hemispherical map centred on the South Pole to the Tropic of Capricorn, includes part of the African and South American coastlines, various island groups including New Zealand, New Holland, Van Dieman's Land. Oceans are named. Relief shown pictorially.

South polar view map first published by H. Hondius in 1642. This Jansson's re-issue shows Tasman's 1642 discoveries in Van Diemen's Land, omitting the title cartouche to show Nova Zelandia. In Jansson's Atlantis Majoris, Amsterdam 1658-59.

Corners are filled with native scenes, including animals, birds and boats.
