Description: Shows two small hills in near distance, the left one topped with walls enclosing tents, and the right one with fence and roofed building. There is a group of tents between the hills on the flat. Extended Title - From: Warre, Henry. [Sketchbook ] 1864-1865. Inscriptions: Recto - top right - 1; Recto - bottom left - Mahohitahi Oct. 10th 1864 Mahoetahi is near Waitara. Troops were brought into Waitara on 8 March 1860, and Taranaki war began on 17 March. Fighting continued throughout the district for 12 months. First European settlements established 1867. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Pencil and watercolour 105 x 173 mm.
