Refers to controversy surrounding a proposal by Sky City Casinos to build a national convention centre in Auckland in return for being allowed to have more pokie (gaming) machines. The deal will require a law change and has led to allegations by opponents that it will result in more cases of problem gambling. Description: Includes a sheet of ink and watercolour elevation and section; and two pencil sheets, one showing a floor plan, and the other showing two different elevations, one for a two-storey building and the other a two-storey building with bedroom accommodation in the roof space. The Mason's Gardens scheme may have been under the supervision of Keene & Reid Note on old accession sheet says that Mr W Beere, the donor's husband, surveyed Mason's Gardens about 1920 when it was subdivided. On 18 October 2013 the Green Party proposed to introduce mandatory measures to limit what gamblers can spend on electronic gaming machines from 2017. The Greens co-leader, Metiria Turei, said that this was in response to the SkyCity deal, part of which allows the casino operation more gaming machines in return for building an International Convention Centre.
