Description: Album of tourist views of New Zealand and the sub-Antarctic Islands, chiefly taken by John Richard Morris, Jnr, circa 1890s. Places and subjects listed above where identified. The Sub-Antarctic Island views are all of native flora and fauna of the different islands, listed on the images as mollymawks, albatrosses, sea lions, crested penguins and erect-crested penguins On page 32 there is a view of the SS Knight Templar leaving Lyttelton on February 17, 1900, taking about 260 soldiers and 300 horses of the 3rd Contingent "the New Zealand Roughriders" to Durban, en route to fight in the South African War. Description: Plan, elevation and cross-section for a wooden bridge with two towers, probably for the Avon River in Christchurch Quantity: 1 plan(s). Physical Description: Ink & watercolour on cartridge paper, 560 x 781 mm Provenance: Verso of the plan reveals that it has been used in the past as wrapping for a parcel posted from Westport to Dr J. Allen [sic] Thomson, Director of the Dominion Museum. The postmark is illegible but the stamps, one for 2 1/2d, one for 8d, bear the face of King George V. Dr J. Allan Thomson died in 1928.

Description: Album recording a motoring and camping holiday through the South Island of New Zealand. This took in the New Zealand South Seas Exhibition in Dunedin and included the West Coast, Otago, and Canterbury. The central part of the album has images of Khandallah, Wellington, and the family home in that suburb. Family photographs include Doug on his Norton Motorcycle, and Jack and Neville similarly posed on a Douglas Motorcycle. Rene and Frank stand at the net holding tennis rackets, and mother has several images with young Joyce. The last part of the album recordes something of a holiday to Auckland where the family camped at Brown's Bay and took a trip to Kawau Island. A group shot on Mt Messanger on the way back and some views of Pukekura Park New Plymouth complete the album Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Album of photographs taken by Albert Lyndsay McKenzie, showing Haywards substation, Centennial Exhibition, Union Airways aircraft at Rongotai airport, and views of war memorials, other monuments, some buildings and parks and gardens in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. There are also some scenic views of rivers and landscape, and one photograph of bee keepers at work on hives. Albert Lyndsay McKenzie, the father of the donor, was born in Christchurch. Description: Family photographs relating to the McCurdie family. Many are groups of friends and family, some of whom are identified with both Christian and surnames. These include wedding photographs of Marjorie Whitton who married J.W. Nicolls on March 31, 1921 at Oamaru, with Betty and Mary Whitton as bridesmaids. Several views of homes include Woodcroft (the home of Dr John Kinder), Werneth (a house at Atawhai, Nelson), The Moorings (the home of W. & Lucy Churchward at Springlands, Blenheim), and Stonycroft (home of Mr & Mrs Free, at Masterton). One view is of snow in Christchurch city in July 1918, and one shows decorations in the interior of Dunedin Hospital for the visit of the Prince of Wales in May 1920. Description: Album chiefly shows members of a Lands & Survey team surveying boundaries etc, in the Chatham Islands, and in South Canterbury, circa 1938. Residents of the Chatham Islands, various locations in the islands and activities such as sheep transportation from the islands to Lyttelton and Wellington by ship are shown. Another sequence shows drainage and irrigation procedures in South Canterbury. The photographer is probably Russell Gladstone Dick, later the New Zealand Surveyor-General.
