Description: This published map is mounted in segments on linen and features the area from Mangere down the west coast to the Mokau River and across from bottom of the Coromandel Peninsula down past the Tauranga Harbour to just above Lake Taupo. Also outlined in red is the south bank of the Waikato River to Mercer, northwards to Hunua, Clevedon across to the Firth of Thames and southwards to Orakau. Some settlements, including selected ones in the Manuaku Harbour area, some roads, rivers, lakes and the coastlines are shaded. Numerous pencilled notes claimed to have been written by Alfred Domett include details of the type of soil and vegetation. Inscriptions: Verso - top right - '*Grandfather's notes on condition of lands in New Zealand' and '*Alfred Domett's'; Verso - top right - Stamp - 'Webster 554 collection' Map drawn by Alfred Domett's grandfather. Either Nathaniel Domett's father or Elizabeth Curling's father. Quantity: 1 map(s). Physical Description: Pencil annotations on lithograph, hand coloured, scale [1:253 440], 86.8 x 52.6 cm. Provenance: Purchased from the estate of K A Webster, London. Notes on reverse suggest map owned at some stage by Domett Family.
