Description: Survey plan of three drawings showing the details, including bearings and co-ordinates in terms of geo datum 1949, of an existing road being closed and the new replacement road in the Canterbury Land District, Clyde Survey District, Ashburton County. The drawing on the left side of the map shows the overview detail of the existing and replacement road with the roads location to the Clyde River, the survey co-ordinates from Gowler Downs, the survey order number S.O.11331,that the road trasverses and that it crosses Run 112, Erewhon. The road is identified as being 75.76 links wide and the scale of the drawing is 5 chains to the inch. The middle drawing identifies in much detail, the bearings and co-ordinates, including locations of survey pegs, of the road being closed and those of the new replacement road. Two areas within the drawing shown as 'Diagram A' and 'Diagram B', are drawn again, giving greater detail of the bearings and co-ordinates. The road is shown to transverse S.O.11076, S.O.4572, S.O. 11331 and R.S.8178 Survey co-ordinates from Gowler Downs are also shown and that the road crosses land known as Run 112, Erewhon. The name A.A.Urquhart is also printed under Erewhon. The scale of the middle drawing is 2 chains to an inch. The third drawing, located on the right side of the map, is identifed as 'Diagram of Bearing Control, not to scale'. It includes bearings from Blk.XI Clyde S.D., Craig Phillips Blk.XIV Clyde S., and 8031 Rabbit Hill Blk. XIV Clyde S.D. A legend, 'Shedule of Areas; Purpose, Colour, Area', is located at the top right corner of the map. Purpose states, 'Road to be closed", 'New Road (from RS8178)' and '(from Sec.58CL) Part Road to be closed'. Colour states 'Green', 'Orange', and the Area, identifies two numerical areas for the 'Road Closed', five for the 'New Road' and one for the 'Part Road to be Closed'. A 'Note' advises 'All marks down 12" [inch] unless otherwise shown. Boundaries not fenced unless otherwise shown.' Data relating to the Survey Block and District, Land District, Local Authority, scale, surveyed by, and date are located at the bottom of the map. Description: Cadastral and topographic map of Arthur's Pass township showing 109 numbered sections alongside the Bealey River and the railway line. The railway station is marked. Avalanche Creek and Rough Creek intersect blocks of sections. Half of a chain access is noted alongside part of the Bealey River. Roads are shown. Areas of land are divided by colour coding or cross hatching to determine Railway Land or that which is under the control of the Board of Control for Arthur's Pass National Park. Note on left of map states: Arthur's Pass township area edged red is the area vested in the Board, over which they have leasing powers by special Act. Area edged yellow is railway Land and the part of this land with a hatched edging, is the approximate area which the railway authorities have agreed to hand over to the Board. Area shown cross hatched is area which the Hon. the Minister of Lands has agreed to hand over to the Board. Action in this direction is under way. All the rest of the land is already under the control of the Board except the bed of the Bealey River, and action is being taken to bring this under the control of the Board. Description: Topographical plan of an area of inland rural high country in Canterbury bordered on the left side of the map by the Lawrence, Clyde and Rangitata Rivers and Potts River and Boundary Creek on the right hand side of the map. The location of McRae's Homestead is shown, and areas identifying the location of different species of grassland, vegetation and rock and shingle formations. The location of two huts, one paddock and an area known as Jumped up Downs (later Erewhon Station) is shown. Hill shading and spot heights are also shown. Cloudy Point, Mount Nolan, Mount McRae, Mount Jollie and Mount Potts are also shown.
