Turnbull metadata via DigitalNZ API
Use the DigitalNZ API to access and use metadata.
Access and use metadata
Many of Alexander Turnbull's Library's unpublished collections are available digitally. With the DigitalNZ API you can access and use metadata for open access born-digital and digitised material, including photographic items, letters, diaries, and much more.
Using the DigitalNZ API, including documentation and code samples
Restricting the API to this set of metadata
Call only the metadata of these digital objects by specifying a collection of TAPUHI in your query. In this example you will be searching for the text 'social welfare' in just these records:
Return data in json
http://api.digitalnz.org/v3/records.json?api_key=[your_api_key]&and[collection][]=TAPUHI&text=social+welfare
Return data in xml
http://api.digitalnz.org/v3/records.xml?api_key=[your_api_key]&and[collection][]=TAPUHI&text=social+welfare
What can I do with this?
The possibilities are endless! Return all records on a subject, in a particular region, involving a person of interest. Build a custom search to suit your interests or display images on a hobby. Whatever you make, we'd be interested in hearing about it.
