Description: Flier shows a map of the area on the recto, with the following streets marked: Tinakori Road, Bowen Street, motorway, Hill Street, Molesworth Street. The parade went along Hill Street and Molesworth Street. The historic walk covered Glenbervie Terrace, Ascot Street and a portion of Tinakori Road. The verso gives the programme, and a list of stalls and activities. Participants included the Fire Brigade, Thorndon School, Marsden School, Lynley Grover, Wadestown Red Cross, Guildford Terrace School, Impulse Theatre, Cook Islanders Association, Wellington Embroiderers' Guild, Red Mole Theatre, Lorna Rowland for the Herb Society, etc. The programme and map were sponsored by the Wellington Public Relations Office. Description: Small poster announces a fundraising event at the Art Gallery, advertised similarly in the Christchurch Press of 6 July 1899. A variety of typefaces and decorative motifs is used. The goods on sale included children's clothing, useful woollen goods, dolls, Chinese embroidery, carved work, etc, etc. The bigophone or bigotphone was a popular carnival musical instrument, cheap, noisy and decorative. It was named after its French inventor in 1881, Roman Bigot (Information retrieved from Wikipedia, 26 September 2012). Quantity: 1 b&w art print(s).
