Papers relating to Joy Tonks' books about the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand National Youth Orchestra, and her biography of Malvina Major. Also recorded interviews and transcripts with musicians, administrators, and visiting musicians. Papers associated with Tonks' editorship of the NZSO bulletin, Concert Pitch.
Also includes papers, photographs, ephemera, and sound recordings relating to the Hazel Martin Dance Studios, which Joy and her mother were affiliated with.
