Description

Comprises correspondence to the Secretary of the Society relating to a wide range of Society business. Prior to the 1920s the files include editorial correspondence and discussions of editorial matters, particularly for the periods when Stephenson Percy Smith was both Secretary and Editor. From the 1920s editorial matters tend to be covered in a separate series of editorial files, although editorial matters continued, of course, to be dealt with as part of the Secretary's business as well. Included are a cache of unsorted papers and correspondence maintained by Clyde R H Taylor when he was secretary-treasurer in the early 1950s (folders MS-Papers-1187-347 to -356).
