Description

Sir Guy's activities as Commissioner in Samoa, High Commissioner to India and other diplomatic positions, and as Ombudsman. Also material relating to Sir Guy's father who saw service in the South African War and World War I and some material relating to his grandfather. The most signifigant part of the archive belonging to Guy Powles' father consists of 520 negatives, 432 of which are a personal record of the British Military campaign in Palestine against the Turks during 1917-1918. Prints from many of these negatives are contained in two albums which begin in Alexandria and end in Jaffa. Powles Senior was also Camp Commandant at Waiouru during World War II.

Of particular importance are Colonel Powles well documented albums recording his involvement in the Gallipoli and Egyptian and Palestine campaigns, World War One.
