A rubber stamp on the cover and first page indicates that it was formerly owned by Louis Burdett.

Description: Text extract from a newspaper describes a political campaign meeting at Lawrence. "The hall was densely crowded, there being fully five hundred people present, including about one hundred ladies, who gave attentive ear to the utterances of the candidate". Mr Rawlins discussed rhe Railways, the liquor question, labor measures, lands for settlement, rabbits, the Legislative Council, mining, education, taxation and free trade. Varieties of poultry included: Black-red game cockerels, Pile games hens and cockerels, Black Spanish, Plymouth Rock, Houdans, White Leghorn, Andalusian, Brown Leghorn, Black Langshan, White Langshan, Polish, Light Brahma, Dark Dorking, Silver Wyandotte, Cochin; bantams, Hamburgs.
