Description: Black and white print of an aerial view of Acland House (boarding house for Christchurch Girls' High School) 85 Papanui Road, Merivale, Christchurch, and surrounding area, taken circa 1948-1949 by V C Browne. Acland House is in the centre, with the circular driveway, heart shaped garden, and tennis court out the back. Above Acland House is St Margaret's College, with two tennis courts. At the time this photograph was taken, the school was at Cranmer Square and the girls living in Acland House to school there each day. Wool has to be separated into various grades which are sold at different prices and used for different purposes. Here some ex-soldiers are learning how to do this work.
