Leigh Hunt, Arthur, 1876-1968

Businessman, stockbroker and writer on economics and immigration matters. Son of Ebenezer Henry and Matilda Carver Hunt. Farmed in Manawatu; organised NZ Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Company and was general manager for 16 years; founder and managing director of the Dominion Farmers' Institute. Founder of British-American Co-operation Movement. President of New Zealand Club 1935-1936. Founder of New Zealand Antarctic Society 1933. President and spokesman of Dominion Settlement and Population Association (founded 1925). Had keen interest in Antarctic exploration. Director of many companies and involved with NZ Sounds Hydro-Electric Company; Involved in many Wellington and other organisations and enterprises. (Who's who in NZ 1968 9th ed)

Includes newspaper clippings on the Bowen Falls controversy. The bulk of the records are concerned with the period ca 1920-1930. The records include correspondence, a cash book, a financial ledger and a number of printing plates.
