Description: There are a number of photographs of the Parliament buildings, Wellington between the late 1880s and ca 1940. Three show the interior of the library established in 1865 in the old wooden building after the books had been removed to the present library (building occupied between 1899 and 1901). There are also photographs of parliamentary staff who were veterans of the Maori wars, and a group photo of the Liberal Government (ca 1908). There are photos of two parliamentary maces and an elaborate staff in wood and silver by the goldsmiths, Garrard's of London. Two photographs record the Library Association's conference in Timaru in 1952, and there are a number of portraits of men, some identified and some not. Four photographs and three negatives seem to be the personal property of Charles Wilson who was for many years parliamentary Librarian. Almost all of them depict family groups or children. Arrangement: Negatives housed at 1/2-180175 to 180177 Quantity: 37 b&w original photographic print(s). 3 b&w original negative(s).
