Description: The journal is annotated and with an introduction by Robert McNab. Includes articles of service of seamen, bills of sale, lists of ship's gear and provisions Besides the whaling log, the volume contains agreements between the firm of Cooper, Holt and Rhodes, and various others, lists of stores, letters, mostly to W B Rhodes, and a notice of his purchase of Kapiti. Bound at the end are some ms receipts, 2 sets of articles engaging seamen on the `Eleanor' and photographs of W B Rhodes' house in Cuba Street, Wellington Also contains information relating the purchase of Kapiti Island by William Barnard Rhodes for Messrs Cooper & Holt from senior chiefs of the Ngati Toa tribe.
