The cartoonist has noted the irony of the change in press coverage: 'It's been incredible to watch how quickly opinions changed immediately following his attack.' Refers to the media vilification of the New Zealand Cricket player Jessie Ryder and his decision to step down from international cricket owing to personal issues and an earlier formal stand-down for breaching team protocol around alcohol. Also refers to the extensive media coverage following an attack on Ryder at a bar in Merivale, Christchurch, in March 2012 that left the sportsman in a coma. Collett was a journalist who worked in the New Zealand Parliament press gallery in the 1960s, and is likely to have been the first women journalist in the press gallery. She later worked in newspapers, specialising in industrial relations. She had trained as a journalist in Colorado. Her original name was Baxter. She died in 1972, aged 36.
