Scott, Lauris Dorothy, 1924-2000

New Zealand poet and writer. Former English teacher and speech therapist; graduate of Waikato, Victoria and Massey universities, receiving an honorary doctorate of literature from the latter (1988). Among numerous awards was a Katherine Mansfield Memorial Fellowship (1981) and Commonwealth Poetry Prize (1985). She was a past president of PEN and a board member of the Stout Research Centre, Victoria University of Wellington.
