Description: Album of photographs, some prints, some contacts from 35mm film, taken by Professor John Salmon in Wellington. Most of the images describe his use of different camera lenses and filters. Many of the scenes are taken from Professor Salmon's window at Victoria University of Wellington, showing different moods in different weather patterns. They include early morning, afternoon, and night views, northerly wind and southerly wind cloud patterns, including a southerly storm. He also has a large number of images of Wellington Harbour and wharves, again taken in different lights, showing ships, reflections and buildings. Other sequences show views of the Hutt Valley, Silverstream, and Glenmore Street in Wellington, many taken on misty early mornings. Description: A letterbook of personal correspondence from surveyor Alma Royalton-Kisch to her elderly grandmother "Gargie". The letterbook comprises carbon copy typescript pages of letters sent by Royalton-Kisch home to England during her journey. Royalton-Kisch notes in one of her letters that the letters take the form of a diary. Royalton-Kisch travelled first class on the 'Orion' from Tilbury in London to Australia and New Zealand and back, in 1950. This is a very detailed account of Royalton-Kisch's experiences and observations of life aboard the 'Orion', and of life in Australia and New Zealand. Of interest are her observations of the English class system and colonial life in the antipodes. Includes a handwritten note on the front cover written by Royalton-Kisch to "Caroline" explaining that she may wish to read it in future years, but it was written primarily for her grandmother. Royalton-Kisch has also written in pencil on the front page saying "Alma Royalton-Kisch DIARY. 1950. England, Australia & NZ and back". Title - Supplied by Library Quantity: 1 volume(s). Description: Four souvenir menus, three with autographs, comprising: -Two Canadian Pacific menus entitled " H.M.N.Z.T. Farewill Dinner to N.C.O.'s 3rd Eschelon N.Z.E.F.", dated Saturday September 14 1940. One menu is covered in signatures. The other appears to be a photocopy with some signatures and with small photographs affixed that appear to have been cut from a group photograph. Photographs include Norman Wilcox. -A menu for "Xmas dinner" for the 24th Battalion NZEF Sergeants Mess, "Helwyn", 1 January 1941. It is inscribed on the front cover "Dear Helen Please keep this for me Love Norman", and there are autographs on the inside front cover. -Orient Line menu for "Dinner held on board "Orion" to commemorate the end of World War no. 2 August 1945". This menu is not autographed. It includes a page listing the ship's officers. It is likely that 'Helwyn' is Helwan, now part of Greater Cairo. Title supplied by Library. Quantity: 1 folder(s).
