Description: Tom Flood was born in Rawene in 1930. Describes graduating from Auckland University College with a science degree and an engineering degree. Recalls working for the Auckland City Council before going to Columbia University, New York on a Fulbright Scholarship. Describes returning to New Zealand and working for the architect Doug Angus in Hamilton. Discusses a project relocating St Mary's Church. Mentions architect Bernie Gleeson. Discusses his role as engineer working on supporting structures. Talks about work done for Waikato Wines and Spirits and for Woolworths. Mentions that he became a partner in the firm which became D H Angus and T C Flood and later Angus, Flood and Griffiths. Recalls work done for schools in American Samoa and for an ice cream factory in Saudi Arabia. Discusses other projects including the Turangawaewae Marae, the German Embassy in Wellington, Kempthorne Prosser and the Water Sports Centre at Karapiro. Talks about Doug Angus being based in Auckland working on a townhouse contract. Discusses his interest in rowing and music.
