Description: Sample pattern book of approximately 50 leaves. The first eleven of the sample patterns have been stuck over with newsclippings prior to arrival in the Library. The first half of the book contains samples of floorcloths and the second half contains linoleum pattern samples. The patterns are repeated in several "colourways" each. Styles include: William Morris-inspired floral patterns, patterns based on Roman or Byzantine mosaic (one including dolphins, winged lions, seagoats, alligators), woodgrain / geometric effects, Victorian, some chinoiserie / japonaiserie effects.
