In the bottom half framed on the left by a tree fern and flax and on the right by a nikau are the wharves and Post Office building in Wellington, the New Zealand Industrial Exhibition buildings and a Maori man and woman, with Mount Taranaki as a background. The first shows a military band and returned servicemen walking past the war memorial at the bottom of Bowen Street with spectators lining the streets. The second shows bands, including pipe bands, coming from the direction of the Hotel Cecil and Molesworth Street towards the memorial (which is not in the picture) also watched by spectators. In the top right scene two men are suggesting to Muldoon that he will require an armed guard when he returns from overseas trips because he will be carrying large amounts of foreign currency. Refers to overseas borrowing by the government. In the lower left scene security officers are dressed as bee-keepers 'in case swarms of protesters descend on the Beehive'. In the lower right scene Muldoon is sitting at his desk as his secretary announces that there is a deputation wanting to know if a security package is being prepared for the country outside parliament to protect them against what goes on inside parliament and the Beehive.
