Verso describes in diary form the events of 11-13 April: the finding of a damaged surfboat taken against express orders; a retreat commenced leaving 300 men in Redoubt - reached Tongahoe and camped. Next day marched to Patea - cold rainy weather - comment on ineffectiveness of steamer communication along coast. Dated by reference to B-045-055. Other Titles - Waingongoro Left recto has manuscript diary notes for 1-10 April 1865. Verso has diary notes for 11 to 13 April 1865.
