Description: Openings relating to six of the exhibitions (Fabulous and Familiar, Musical Images, Kia Kaha - Forever Strong, Empire and Desire - Gallipoli 1915, Encounter with Eden; New Zealand, 1770-1870, Max Dupain - Sydney Nostalgia ) held in the National Library between 1990 and 1995. Two views of the John Drawbridge mural before it was installed in the National Library building. It is seen in a Government store and still coloured as it was for the international exhibition at Osaka, Japan, 1970. There is a group photo of Maori carving students from Porirua community college, and two portraits of Carol O'Biso. Description: Views of the National Library of New Zealand Building during construction, its opening ceremony on the 5th of August 1987, its interiors and services. Photographs (single portraits and at events throughout the collection) of Ministers, Trustees, Management and Staff, National Library and Fulbright Scholars, IFLA delegates, Polish and Yugoslav embassy officials, visiting Chinese Librarians, Friends of the Turnbull Library, and members of the public. Events include exhibition openings, formal handings over of archives, Friends of the Turnbull Library events, the powhiri for 1st Maori Manager, Dick Grace, the presentation of the Missoula Peace Quilt, and National Library Children's Days. Though the photographs range in date from 1984 to 1995, most date from 1989 to 1991, and the bulk date from the sesquicentenial year, 1990. Arrangement: Negatives at 35mm, 23197 - 23265; 1/2-180331-F - 1/2-180358-F; 1/4-83134-F. Negatives at 1/2-180618 and 35mm, 24045 - 24059. Comprise 60 images. Transparencies at PA12-1550 - PA12-1560. Description: Slides made from Fijian images held in the Alexander Turnbull Library for the exhibition "Heart of Fiji" (National Library gallery 20 March to 19 June 1993). There is also a sequence of slides taken by photographer, Julia Brooke-White, of events which took place during the opening of the exhibition. Arrangement: Slides at PA12-1510 to PA12-1511 'Heart of Fiji' was an exhibition which was held in the National Library of New Zealand, Wellington, between 20 March and 19 June 1993. It was based on photographs of Fiji taken by the anthropologist Arthur Maurice Hocart between 1909 and 1914. Quantity: 40 b&w original transparency/ies.

Description: Exhibition prints created between 2019 and 2020 from photographs taken by Ans Westra between 1960 and 1964, 1979, and in 2005.The prints were created by Ans Westra's agent Suite Tirohanga Ltd, for display in the New Zealand of National Library exhibitions 'Pūkana: Moments in Māori performance' and 'Mīharo Wonder: 100 Years of the Alexander Turnbull Library'. Photographs predominantly depict Māori people or Māori events. The Pukana and Miharo exhibitions were first held at New Zealand of National Library in 2019-2020 and 2021.
