Description: Postcards, chiefly of Australia, including Tasmania, Adelaide, Queensland, New South Wales, with several showing various tin mines in Tasmania. There is a section of New Zealand postcards in the middle of the album, many taken by an Australian photographic company "Charles H Kerry & Co", labelled "Series 53. Hot Lakes District, New Zealand". These images are tinted, and include views of the Huka Falls, the Pink and White Terraces, Waiotapu, Ohinemutu, Whakarewarewa, Lakes Waikaremoana and Taupo, and the Aratiatia Rapids. The NZ images also include views of the Mount Cook region of the South Island, including Franz Josef Glacier, Hooker Glacier, Mounts Darwin, Sefton and Cook, and Lakes Te Anau and Wakatipu. Description: This album is an anthology of views of Mounts Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe, and Tongariro from 1906 to 1909, and includes a climbing trip up Mount Egmont. Included are details of the mountains such as the Crater Lake, the crater on Mount Ngauruhoe, Ngauruhoe erupting Easter 1909, climbers on the Wangaehu and Mangaehuehu glaciers, views of snow fields and peaks near the summit of Ruapehu, climbing parties, and various lakes in the area. These include Tama Lakes, Lake Rotoaira, and the Blue and Green lakes on Tongariro. There are images of waterfalls on the Makatote River, the Whakapapanui Stream, the Mangawhero River, on a branch of the Mangatoetoenui Stream, and below the Wangaehu Glacier. There are also two views of Ruapehu Hut and views of Ruapehu from the locality of Rangataua, south west of the mountain, described in the album as "Rangataua Bush" and "Rangataua lake". Description: Views around the Taupo Tongariro area, including Mounts Ngaruahoe and Tongariro, Huka Falls, Aratiatia Rapids, Lake Taupo and Wairakei. There is one image of the Maori interior of Tom Ryan's whare, one of the Terraces Hotel at Lake Taupo, and others of various buildings at the Spa Hotel (Taupo), including the interior of the dining room. This building was the meeting house Te Tiki o Tamamutu, purchased by John Joshua (proprietor of the Spa Hotel) for use as a smoking room and dining room for the hotel guests. Several images show unidentified Maori women in posed groups, or working with flax, and in one case a woman using a treadle sewing machine. An unidentified man is seen, in several images, fishing at pools below the Aratiatia Rapids. Photographs taken by Auckland Star photographers around the turn of the 19th-20th century.
