Otago Boys' High is the large Victorian Gothic building to the left in the foreground and Queens Drive curves around the bush-clad hill to its left. Houses, stores and industrial buildings are shown, along with shipping activity in the port. In the centre and right foreground are a park and a road, along which a couple is walking. Description: Exhibition certificate with decorative border using Maori carving and weaving patterns. Inside the border, and surrounded by native flowers, are eight vignettes depicting various scenes of the NZ economy (coal mining, sheep farming, scientific research, wheat harvesting, etc). Additional scenes of trade and industry and the agricultural economy are depicted in a panel forming the top of an archway. On either side are supporting columns topped with the lion and the unicorn. At the bottom is a view of Dunedin city showing First Church and other buildings in Moray Place and the surrounding area with Otago Harbour in the background. Description: The steamship 'Taiaroa' in Otago Harbour, under steam, with passengers visible on board. Photographer probably Catherine Euphemia Matheson who took over the De Maus studio in 1932. The 'Taiaroa' was a two-masted steamship of 252 tons, built in 1943 at Auckland by Mason Brothers Engineering Co. From 1947 onwards she was registered at the Port of Dunedin. Description: Shows Prime Minister Richard Seddon with muddy hands, as he digs at the site of the Port Chalmers dry dock. He is speaking to a man in suit and hat. The suited man is William Cable, chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board in 1904-1905.
