Description: Series comprises materials originally contained within an accordion file relating to the Halt All Racist Tour publication 'Amandla'. Includes clippings, photographs and stationery products. Most material is undated. Halt All Racist Tours organised material by subject file, however file contents appear to be mixed. Researchers may benefit by viewing neighbouring items. Title taken from donor inventory. Arrangement: Material arrived at Library in an accordion file and within a larger box. Each accordian section contained a printed label, A through to Z. Halt All Racist Tours also applied their own subject file headings using paper and clear tape. Contents are arranged by subject in separated accordion sections, there is some overlapping of content. 'Amandla' newsletter was produced by Halt All Racist Tours from 1976 to 1984. Quantity: 24 folder(s) clippings, ephemera and photographs. 12 b&w original negative(s) 35mm strips with 57 frames. 2 folder(s) photographic prints and contact sheet. Processing information: Subject files originally housed in an accordion file that has not been retained. Each accordian file section has been rehoused in to an archival folder and arrangement follows their original order in the accordian file. Negatives separated for reasons of preservation and storage.

Description: Digital print copy of an unused cover design for a book by A J Harrop. The front cover shows red masks of a tattooed Maori and a European soldier in a helmet, tied together with red ribbon, and superimposed on an image of a group of Maori dancing performing a "Hauhau ritual dance" (so titled on another version by the same artist, that eventually used for the book cover) around a flagpole flying three flags: one rectangular and two pennant-shaped. The left side of the large rectangular flag is coloured red. The spine design shows the European mask placed above the Maori mask. The original ink drawing of the version that was eventually used for the book cover is housed at A-164-023. Central image is derived from an engraving of a watercolour in the Turnbull collection by Herbert Meade 'Pai Marire karakia held by the Te Hau fanatics at Tataroa .
