Many scenes show aspects of life in Egypt; several views of the Handley Page V/1500 known as "Old Carthusian"; planes that have crashed; ships in Suez Canal; long convoys of horse-drawn gun-carriages; huge numbers of camels, and camel cavalry; groups of simple wooden crosses on battlefields, some of which have names and dates that are legible (names listed above); Chapelle de Matarieh; mosques and Coptic churches; and costume worn by different groups of Egyptian people. Description: A certificate with text surrounded by a frame of coat of arms above an arch, columns and pedestal. The coat of arms shows an knight and a buffalo on either side of a shield and the motto "Nemo mortalium omnibus horis sapit" (No mortal is wise all the time). Panels show tableaux representing Europe, Asia, Africa and America. At the lower edge are scenes of King John signing the Magna Carta and Queen Elizabeth presenting Earl Essex the banner and motto of the Order. In the centre above the text is a portrait of a man in 16th century (?) dress (possibly Shakespeare), and below the text panel is the head of a buffalo. Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s).
