Description: Photographs of trips taken in 1925 by an unidentified photographer. On the first trip the photographer goes by car to the Nelson Lakes District, and the Buller River, to the Korere Valley "and so home". The second trip is one travelling to the New Zealand Exhibition at Dunedin in November 1925, though there are no images showing the exhibition. The trip goes from the Buller River; Lake Kaniere; views of the Rimu Dredge; near Jacksons; Otira Station; Otira Gorge; Springfield after a snow fall; Lyttelton Harbour; a visit to the remains of the old homestead at Double Corner, Waipara, with historic white gums; and lastly views from the Summit Road, Akaroa Peninsula. Description: A license signed by warden Duncan Macfarlane of the Westland mining district, granting Thomas Kelly of Awatuna Mine permission to use a water-race for 42 years. The water-race was one "commencing about one mile down the Waimea Creek from Pipers bridge and terminating at Licensee's claim on Auckland Beach, length about 3 1/2 miles. Ten heads of water authorised and to be diverted from point of commencement for mining purposes". The license was granted in exchange for one previously held (No 233 B9/255, dated 22.1.[18]68). Typescript addition dated 1922 assigns interest from John Thomas Kelly, Michael Edward Kelly, Lawrence Denis Kelly and Joseph Richard Kelly to the Awatuna Dredging Company Ltd. Description: Plans for constructing a water race from peg 8 miles 40 chains to peg 10 miles 60 chains for the company 'Hohonu Diamond Terrace Gold Mining and Water Race Company Limited'. Work to be performed by John Gilbert of Kumura and Leonard Tomasi of Cape Terrace. The three large maps (Acc.37275-7) each contain two diagrams. The upper diagram depicts the path of the water race for up to one mile, across creeks. The lower diagram is a cross section indicating wall, bench level (bottom of ditch 4'6" below level), height above datum 400 feet, banks, cuttings, bench, formation level (line pegged to bench level), reduced Do. (with corresponding figures), distances and gradients. Sheets are numbered no. 12-14. The smaller map (Acc.37278) (blueprint, scale [1:24], 20 x 21 cm), depicts the measurements of an open ditch, its depth, the bench level and a diagonal gradient. The document (Acc.37279) is the signed contract for the construction between the company, the Engineer (Solicitor James Park) and the contractors. Quantity: 4 map(s). 1 Document - 10 separate pages.
