Description: Permission slip to allow Messrs Kingston and Hill to visit the sanctuary on 15 December 1950; gives a list of eight conditions of the visit, including the fact that no children under 16 years old could visit without an adult, and no guns or dogs could be taken. No fires were to be lit, and the birds were not to be molested or property damaged. The certificate is pasted on to a sheet with two small photographs of the gannet colony. Description: Lantern slides of birds taken circa 1929-1950s. One photograph is a hand-coloured copy of an original taken by Frank Hurley and another a copy of an image by Herbert Ponting, but otherwise photographers are unidentified. Some slides have captions written on paper affixed to the glass, that describe the location and subject. Images show terns nesting, a black-billed gull nest in a stump, and a young black-billed gull on the Mercury Islands. A pied shag is photographed on a coastal rocky island [Marotiri?], the gannet colony on Horuhoru Rock (including nests) is shown in two slides, and gulls are shown on the water at an unidentified location. Set also includes a hand-coloured copy of a photograph by Frank Hurley shows a King Penguin on Heard Island, Antarctica, [ca 1929-1930?] and a copy of a Herbert Ponting image shows Tera Nova cook Thomas Clissold and surgeon Edward Atkinson pulling a seal-baited fish trap from a hole in the ice [ca 1911].
