Description: Comprises photocopies of two letters to Major Clement Attlee, (Leader of the Labour Party in United Kingdom). One letter in typescript is from Mao Zedong dated 1 November 1937. He asks Britain's assistance against Japanese imperialism and signs his name in both English and Chinese characters. Also signed by Zhu De. Second handwritten letter from James Bertram (pages two and three) which refers to Mao Zedong's letter, (pages one and four not included in the auction by Sotheby's). Also includes the Sotheby's catalogue for 15 December 2015 and a newspaper cutting with details of the original letter from Mao Zedong being auctioned. Inscription in pen on page 23 of Sotheby's catalogue giving details of the price realised. Quantity: 1 folder(s). A stereotypical Japanese man dressed in Arab clothes is bowing to the two Arabs, and one of them is commenting to the other with the words that form the title of this cartoon.
