Description: Slides record New Zealand co-operative enterprises flourishing in the early 1980s. Many are co-operative farms, gardens, craft factories, and shops. Other slides relate to or have been created by CELT (Co-operative Enterprise and Loan Trust). There is also a sequence on the Salvation Army Work Scheme in Taranaki. There are three information slide sequences, one called "Good Work-an introduction to New Zealand Worker Cooperatives" created by CELT, and "Renewable energy for today and tomorrow" from the Centre for Alternative Technology. Includes photographs of Cypriot New Zealanders serving with the New Zealand forces during World War Two, weddings, picnics, and dances. Also shows snack bars and cabarets operated by members of the Cypriot community during the 1950s and 1960s, which were the beginnings of Wellington’s cafe society. Description: Photograph of the demolition of the Tivoli Theatre shops in Molesworth Street, Wellington, showing the sign for Mrs Elizabeth Copeland's tea rooms, taken 1990 by Margaret Barker. Mrs Elizabeth Copland was already listed as a confectioner at no 33 Molesworth Street when the Crown (Artcraft, Tivoli) Theatre buiding and its shops opened over the road in 1917. No 33 may have been her place of residence as Arthur Copeland, a gardener, is also listed there in 1917. She ran her tea and supper rooms at no 32 Molesworth Street from a shop in the Crown (Artcraft, Tivoli) Theatre building from 1917 to 1921, afer which she moved her business to 128 Lambton Quay The Tivoli Theatre was damaged by fire in 1963 and most of the building was demolished. What was retained were the shops along the street. These continued in use until they were closed in preparation for the building of the High Court, and were demolished in 1990 Quantity: 1 colour original photographic print(s).
