Kelliher Art Competition

Known also as the Kelliher Art Prize and the Kelliher Art Awards; and written as Kelleher Art Prize.

Established in 1956 by art patron and businessman Sir Henry Kelliher as an annual prize for a realistic oil landscape painting of a New Zealand scene. The competition ran between 1956 and 1977. Over time the competition included portrait and genre paintings. The prizewinning and award winning paintings form the basis of the Kelliher Art Trust collection which is mananged by the Kelliher Charitable Trust.
