House of Windsor

The House of Windsor is the royal house of the United Kingdom. The dynasty includes Edward VII (reigned 1901-10), George V (1910-36), Edward VIII (1936), George VI (1936-52), and Elizabeth II (1952- ). It was founded by King George V on 17 July 1917 when he changed the name from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor because of anti-German sentiment in the United Kingdom during World War I.
