Al-Masalla Obelisk (Cairo, Egypt)

Obelisk situated in the Al-Matarriyah (Matariyah, El-Matareya), district of Cairo, which in ancient times was part of the city of Heliopolis. The obelisk, also known as the Obelisk of Matarieh or Mataria, was part of the temple of Re-Atum constructed by Pharaoh Senusret 1. It is one of the few Pharaonic era obelisks remaining in Egypt.
