Historic meeting house constructed by Te Rangihaeata on Mana Island, near Porirua, probably during the late 1820s or 1830s. It was situated on the lower eastern side of the island, just of the shore line, and was probably the main building of the Ngati Toa settlement.

Description: Full length squatting stylised portrait of Te Rangihaeata holding a pipe or other object and carved by himself. It formed the lower portion of the central pillar supporting the roof of Rangihaeata's house on Mana Island, the house being known as Kaitangata. Description: Depicts the whare whakairo (carved house) "Kaitangata" with carved lintel, posts and gables, said by the artist to have been carved by Te Rangihaeata himself. Two figures are seated on the edge of the porch, and a gourd stands on the ground beside them. The carved face supporting the ridge pole is said to represent Rangihaeata himself.
