Description: The original collection comprises three parts (1) material relating to a proposed biography of Pat Macaskill; (2) material relating to a proposed biography of Len Castle; and (3) personal papers of Leov Lealand, now arranged in series. The part of the collection relating to Pat Macaskill includes background information about both subject and biographer, his family and family letters, speeches and writings of Macaskill, and other material. The personal papers of Leov Lealand include correspondence, cards, photographs and other memorabilia. The material relating to Len Castle is of two types (a) relating to a proposed biography with correspondence and interviews and (b) the personal relationship between Leov Lealand and Castle. One box in the collection relates to personal memorabilia including photographs, clippings, correspondence and other papers; this is not further listed Also includes collection of diaries, journals, some personal papers and literary drafts. Also includes sound recordings which were transferred to Oral History and Sound from the Manuscripts collection in 1996. The remainder of the collection description was not changed. The donor also identified some digital files which were processed and preserved in August 2020. The collection was updated to a multi-format collection in 2022 when audiocassettes, which were held by Oral History and Sound, were described as part of the Utaina project.
