Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife, sailing, and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition, circa Jul-Dec 1983. One image of Jim Watt taken by an unidentified expedition member. Set contains images of dolphin gulls, Patagonian plover "zonibyz modestus", winter plover, surfbirds, turnstones, sanderlings, kelp geese (pair and individual birds at Guafo Island), and a green-backed firecrown hummingbird [Watt notes this image was published]. Also "lanchas" in regatta at Laguna San Raphael (Puerto Montt), tents and other camping images at expedition site on Lagartija Island, sea lion bulls in the water, a large house at Cabuco, boats at low tide (Pudeto), snow covered mountains and Quintupeu Fjord, Corcovado Volcano, and a sunset. Expedition members Jay Espinosa, Andreas von Meyer, Luis Espinosa, and Gerry Clark (Captain) are photographed in the Lagartija campsite images and going ashore at Guafo Island lighthouse "faro". Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition and after he left the expedition to travel alone, circa Jul-Dec 1983. Set contains images of birds including flamingos (beside the anchored 'Totorore'), Inca terns, Magellanic penguings, sanderlings, surfburds, turnstones, steamer ducks, a ringed kingfisher "martin pescador" (at Pudeto), red-legged cormorant "red-foot garmardi", black vulture "Jote", black-necked ibis "bandurria", and an Andean condor. Also contains street scenes from Santiago (featuring a church, other buildings, and a market), Corcovado and Chayapiren "Pichimahuida" volcanoes, the Andes seen from a commerical airliner (on Watt's arrival"), San Vincente port, Quintupeu (in Pumalin Park), and Valparaiso seen from the water. Set contains images of two unidentified children (one of whom is holding a puppy); Corcovado, Chayapiren, Calbuco, and Osorno volcanoes; the 'Totorore' refuelling at Valdivia as well as another image showing various vehicles, including a horse and cart, by the fuel pumps; 'Totorore' in fjord as well as at the bottom of a snow fed waterfall; 'San Susan' fishing boat at sea; various images of mist and snow; two images showing ice fields in the Andes "Centro Patagonia" and coastal Patagonia taken from a commercial passenger flight; and an unidentified fortification and statue in Santiago. Description: Collection of photographs taken by various photographers including the Burton Brothers, George Valentine, Josiah Martin and Marc Ferrez. On page [67] there is a hand-traced map of the world with a route marked on it from London, to Plymouth, Canary Islands, Cape Town, Tasmania, Wellington, Lyttelton, Cape Horn, Rio de Janeiro, Canary Islands and back to Plymouth and London. The distance travelled out was 12,948 miles, and distance home was 11,915 miles. The photographs cover most of these places, with more detailed travel through Tasmania, and especially New Zealand. Scenes in New Zealand were mostly taken by the Burton Brothers and Josiah Martin. They include views of the main cities, and a large number in the thermal area around Lake Rotorua and Mount Tarawera, showing the area around the Pink and White Terraces before and after the eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886. Photographs by Josiah Martin include portraits of Maori, and one entitled "The old order changeth" with Maori artifacts, shrunken heads, and a portrait of Tawhiao. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s). Description: Scenic photographs, chiefly of South Island lakes and mountains, taken by John Richard Morris (Jnr); and three photographs of Rio de Janiero taken by Brazilian photographer Marc Ferrez. Photographs by J R Morris include two of seabirds, both of which show snare's crested penguins, one showing a variety of seabirds, stated to be at the Bounty Islands. However there is a loose leaf inserted at page 41, which says the caption is incorrect "Not Bounty islands - no vegetation. Info: Duncan Cunningham, Dept. of Conservation, 11/6/92". Most of the images by Morris are purely landscapes, but there is one view of a large group of children paddling at St Clair Beach, Dunedin; one of a young man standing in front of Beech Hut, with Mount Balloon in the background; one of a man standing by a dinghy with a sail at Boat Cove, Lake Te Anau; one of a man standing beneath Hawke's Crag in the Buller Gorge; and one of Fern Arch in the Buller Gorge. The three views by Marc Ferrez are entitled "Pont de Sylvestre" (the Viaduto do Silvestre da Estrada de Ferro do Corcovado) leading up to Mount Corcovado; "Sommet de Corcovado", "Promenade de l'aqueduc".
