Description: Shows a dilapidated wooden oast house and other buildings partly obscured by a row of trees. In the foreground is a waterfront lined with rushes or tall grass. In the distance are partly wooded hills, identified as likely to be the Moutere Hills. The watercolour has an accompanying verification of the identity of the artist from Jan E Richmond Smart (Waikanae), great-grandchild of the artist. The painting is referred to as: "Farmhouse and barn at water's edge", measuring 230 mm x 350 mm (this would be the measurement of the image when framed).
