Description: Three sets of photographs chiefly relating to whaling, Te Kaha, and Singapore. Taken by unidentified photographer(s) in 1957, circa 1970 to 1989. One copy black and white photograph shows a toddler in swimming costume learning to walk while being held by an adult. Dated on reverse as 1957. One group of black and white images show a whaling boat on display under a verandah [probably the 'Greyhound' whaling boat at Gisborne Museum] One set of black and white and colour images show Te Kaha beach, and on it a derelict concrete shed (interior and exterior views). Some colour images show an estuary, and a creosote bach. Colour photographs were printed May 1978. One set of colour photographs of street scenes at night show people at a restaurant, and people watching a Chinese street opera performance [probably wayang or jiexi shows] in Singapore. Includes a view of a blonde woman and blond boy, and a view of a tropical cityscape. Includes one colour postcard from Ian Wedde to Donna Malane dated 11 June 1989 which depicts a food stall in Singapore. Source of description - Images showing the whaling boat were housed in an envelope marked 'Greyhound'. Images showing the beach and bach were housed in an envelope marked 'Te Kaha'. Photocopies of the original housing are kept with the prints. Arrangement: Photographs relating to Singapore were originally delivered in a box marked 'Chinese Opera draft 6'. Photographs relating to 'Greyhound' boat and Te Kaha were delivered in a box with drafts of 'Symmes Hole' and 'Survival Arts'. The whaling boat 'Greyhound' or 'Hangutuwera' last sailed in the 1930s.
