Date: 2007
From: Scott, Thomas, 1947- :[Digital cartoons published in the Dominion Post]
Reference: DCDL-0002944
Description: There are two scenes; in the first scene Prime Minister, Helen Clark, stretches out her arms magnanimously as she quotes Shakespeare's 'Quality of mercy' speech and in the second it is seen that in her right hand she holds an umbrella over Ahmed Zaoui so that the 'gentle rain' does not fall on him. Refers to the fact that the family of Algerian refugee, Ahmed Zaoui, is still not allowed to join him in New Zealand because his security risk certificate review is not yet determined, and is taking a very long time. Many people believe that New Zealand should be merciful to Zaoui and cannot understand the government's hardline stance. Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).
