Description: Postcards from the 1910s, with one of the ship RMS Ormonde at the beginning. Most of the views are taken in Britain and Europe, with a few of Australia (inserted in an envelope in a pocket inside front cover, and at the end of the album), and one of the Invercargill water tower and water works (p 046). The British postcards are all tourist views of landscapes, university colleges (Cambridge), churches and other historical buildings, including Hampton Court Palace. Many of the European postcards are again of historical buildings and landscapes, but one sequence shows scenes of war damage in Belgium (pages 058-076). Many of the views show the environment before the first World War, with the same view at the end of the war. Examples of these are at Dixmunde [i.e. Diksmuide, or Dixmude], Ypres, and Ostende [i.e. Oostende]. Quantity: 1 album(s). There are images of groups of friends and then trips from London to Oxford, St Albans, Kenilworth, and Guildford which included villages such as Chalfont St Giles and Nuneham Courtney. Others record a walking tour through the Buckinghamshire countryside between Chenies and Rickmansworth which took in a stately home at Moor Park.
