Description: Collection comprises papers originating from Barbara Hoskins's maternal (Nimmo) and paternal (Anton) families, and from her own career and personal life. Mainly comprises papers and ephemera belonging to her father Sidney James Anton and mother Sybil Edith Anton (nee Nimmo); notably 1920s dance cards, World War One soldier's diary and wallet, All Black, Springbok and British Isles tour itinerary cards. Includes material relating to her aunt Kathleen Frances Viard Nimmo, her uncle William Henry (Bill) Nimmo, her grandmother Edith Agnes Nimmo (nee Fitzgerald). Also includes Barbara Hoskins's work books and diaries for Owhiro Bay School and Island Bay School in late 1970s to early 1980s, and ephemera items related to the religious and social etiquette for her birthdays, engagement and marriage events circa early 1950s. Barbara Hoskins lived in Island Bay, Wellington, taught at Island Bay School between 1970 and 1981, and was involved in the local St Francis de Sales church. She is a member of the Wellington Southern Bays Historical Society and has written articles on the social history of Island Bay and the 1918 influenza epidemic. Her maternal family the Nimmo family lived at Standen Street, Karori from 1907, and is related to the Philps family who emigrated in 1841. Her mother Sybil Edith worked as a telegraphist as did her aunt Kathleen Frances Viard Nimmo. Her father Sidney James Anton served in New Zealand Field Artillery on the Western Front during World War One. He travelled on the transport ship HMNZT No.4. Description: Comprises black and white prints relating to Sidney James Anton and the Anton family. Several images feature Sidney James Anton. Contains formal studio portraits and informal photographs of family and friends in garden settings. Taken by a range of photographers, some unknown, circa 1915 to 1924. Many photographs are inscribed in pencil with names. One group of prints relate to the football (soccer) and rugby activities of Sidney James Anton and his football teams. Prints mounted on card show Thorndon Football Club Junior Eleven 1921 and an unknown rugby team with ball marked 'Duthie 1924' (also features Bill Nimmo). Several smaller prints show the Brooklyn soccer club players posing in team jerseys on the field and in suits, one man has a kewpie doll mascot on his lapel. Some prints show the team on away trips, in front of a motorbus and in front of a memorial and gazebo in botanical gardens. Two prints relate to the employment and social activities of Sidney James Anton. A print mounted on card shows his employer Ellis Harper, Wellington Plumbing Supplies Limited. Another print shows Anton in a group photograph of men (possibly RSA). Several photographs are taken of Sidney James Anton and family or friends wearing fancy dress costumes at the Brooklyn Carnival prior to World War One. The remainder of the prints show the friends and family members related to the Anton family. Description: Photograph album formerly belonging to Kathleen Frances Viard Nimmo (nee Fitzgerald) of Ponsonby, Auckland, and inscribed by her. Contains photographic prints of her childhood in Karori, Wellington, and her family and friends circa World War One. Includes informal photographs, a studio portrait and publication cuttings showing male friends in New Zealand Army uniforms. Taken by Alva Photographic Studio and unknown photographers between 1915 to 1920. The first part of the album shows exterior views of the Nimmo family at Standen Street, Karori. Points of interest are their villa home, rainwater tanks, the father William Henry Nimmo with an Ariel motorcycle. Photographs of family members in teenage years show them with friends including Sadie, Girlie, Vida, Alan, Arnold (Ike) Couper. Scenes are taken at a picnic at Chelthenham 1918, Wilton's Bush, and Days Bay 1920. Includes photographs of Roy and his poultry farm showing ducks and breeding pens. Informal photographs, two print cuttings and studio portraits relating to World War One show young men in army uniform including Jack Sadler, William Antony, Joe Viscovich, Albert Roy Parkin (inscribed 'A.R.
